Timing and Possible Delays
Set around the household and route
No single period applies to every household or residence route.
What delays it
You face different timing depending on the route, household documents, AIMA procedure, tax steps and provider responses.
What to prepare now
You gather the household passports, current status, work and income information, destination, family priorities and move calendar before the work begins.
Relocation Support by Location
Residence routes and AIMA procedure are national. Local registrations depend on the address, and the municipal channel for each one is identified.
Lisbon
The service prepares the documents for a residence application to AIMA by individuals and families moving to Lisbon, along with the related family, tax-registration and Segurança Social paperwork. The applicant submits the application.
An EU citizen resident in Lisbon has a separate registration process from the Article 77 residence authorisation. The current authority, deadline and required documents depend on the address, and the applicant confirms them with the authority before filing.
Cascais
The check covers Segurança Social registration, the competent Serviço de Finanças and the Câmara Municipal de Cascais publication or filing route for the activity and address.
The check also covers the municipality's current publication channel, such as its editais page, for parish-specific notices.
Residence, Tax and Arrival Considerations
AIMA residence work and biometrics
A specialist prepares each applicant’s passport, residence-status, family-relationship and route evidence for the agreed AIMA work. You keep the household’s documents separated by applicant so the evidence for one family member is not used for another.
NIF, tax and Segurança Social
You provide each family member’s work, income, residence and address information before the NIF and tax-registration documents are prepared. The applicant selects the residence route first. A specialist then prepares the NIF and tax-registration documents and the Segurança Social and employer registration documents the work in Portugal requires.
Housing, health and education providers
You provide the household’s destination, address position, health needs and education priorities before any provider enquiry. You treat each provider’s requirements as case-specific and keep the provider response with the household’s move records.
Set out your Portugal move
State your household, residence goal, work, destination and timing, and a relocation specialist maps the residence, tax and arrival work.
