Where is Loja AIMA Lisboa I?
AIMA lists Loja AIMA Lisboa I at Avenida António Augusto de Aguiar, 20, 1069-119 Lisboa.
Can a residence request be presented at any Loja AIMA?
A residence-authorisation request may be presented at any Loja AIMA. The store that receives it may send it on to the services for the applicant’s area of residence.
The address of the planned accommodation identifies the municipality of residence, and so the area-of-residence service that may receive the request.
What does Article 77 require for residence?
Article 77 of Lei n.º 23/2007, in its current wording, sets the general conditions for a residence authorisation. The purpose of the stay determines which further rules apply. The purposes covered here are employment, independent activity, study, family and passive income.
A residence visa is requested through the competent Portuguese consular post when the route requires one. The residence-authorisation procedure with AIMA follows the visa stage.
What do AIMA appointments and notices involve?
The applicant keeps the consular and AIMA notices, the appointment information, the payment receipts and any decision together with the application file.
Which documents does the residence procedure involve?
The documents depend on the purpose of the stay. The evidence below appears in the rules cited on this page.
- Employment. The work contract and the Segurança Social registration records that relate to employment in Portugal.
- Independent activity. The service or activity evidence, the professional status, the means of support and the Segurança Social registration. A professional-body declaration also belongs with the activity evidence if the independent work requires one under Article 89.
- Accommodation. The document supporting the planned Lisbon address.
- Family. The marriage, birth, dependency or cohabitation records for each relative whose status is in question.
Article 14 of Lei n.º 37/2006 sets the registration duty of an EU citizen living in Lisbon, and the registration goes to Câmara Municipal de Lisboa.
Which fees apply to a residence matter?
The MNE national-visa fee and the AIMA permit charge are separate. MNE Vistos sets the national-visa fee in its published fee schedule. AIMA sets the permit charge in its own fee table, which AIMA updated on 26 February 2026 with effect from 1 March 2026.
What affects the timing?
No fixed duration applies to a residence matter. The timing depends on the visa purpose, the consular post, the AIMA stage and the dates on documents already issued to the applicant.
The procedure takes longer when work evidence is incomplete, when family papers need review, when a permit is near expiry or when the authority requests further documents.
Which work, family and renewal records matter?
Work evidence after the visa
An employee keeps the signed contract and the Segurança Social registration record together with the entry and permit papers. A professional-body declaration belongs beside the activity evidence if independent work requires one under Article 89.
Family records before a later application
The resident’s permit issue date sits beside each relative’s relationship record and cohabitation or dependency record. Separate documents support the principal permit and a family request, so the applicable condition is clear for each.
Permit dates
The permit issue and expiry dates are checked against the family and renewal rules. Article 75 and Article 78 of Lei n.º 23/2007 set the validity period and the renewal deadline.
Which courts and tax office does a Lisbon matter involve?
Tribunal Administrativo de Círculo de Lisboa covers Lisbon immigration judicial-review matters. Tribunal Judicial da Comarca de Lisboa is the judicial comarca with its seat in Lisbon. CIVA Article 77 separately assigns a non-resident without a Portuguese permanent establishment or representative to Lisboa 3.
